ICE FISHING 101
New Outdoors Media, in collaboration with Eastern Canadian Outfitters – Mer Bleue, is offering the Ice Fishing 101 (Introduction to Ice Fishing) course. This event is supported by funding from the Fédération Québécoise des Chasseurs et Pêcheurs – Fondation Heritage Faune.
WHAT
The Ice Fishing 101 event is a hands-on seminar designed to introduce newcomers to the sport. Accompanied by special guests and experts, this session will cover various topics such as ice safety and winter preparedness, ice fishing equipment and techniques, fish identification, related regulations, and preparing fish for transport and cooking.
Part of the event will take place indoors at the Outdoor Education Center located at Eastern Canadian Outfitters – Mer Bleue, with the majority occurring outdoors on the lake for ice fishing under the direct supervision and instruction of our special guests and experts.
Throughout the event, lunch, coffee, and snacks will be provided. To ensure personalized instruction, a maximum of 12 participants per day will be accommodated.
COST
The cost is $150 per attendee, with a maximum of 12 participants per day. Participants must have a valid Quebec fishing license, which can be purchased online at Quebec Fishing License or at the local ProNature store in Gracefield, QC.
WHERE
Eastern Canadian Outfitters – Lac Mer Bleue, 47A Chemin de la Mer Bleue, Cayamant, Quebec, J0X 1Y0. This location is approximately 1.5 hours north of Ottawa/Gatineau. Accommodations may be available on-site for those traveling from farther distances at an additional cost.
WHEN
The event will take place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, beginning at 9:30 AM, breaking for lunch at noon, and concluding at 3:30 PM. A second event on Sunday, March 3rd, is possible based on interest.
